Review: Down To You by M. Leighton

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
(NOT appropriate for younger readers)

The scorching tale of one girl and two brothers in a love triangle…that’s not.

Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business. She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white.

But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.

Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her.

Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.

Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in love. With both of them.

Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire.

She wants them both.

And they want her.

How will she ever choose between them?

Another book where it was pretty easy to figure out early on what part of the big secret was, but it didn’t take away from the book or story line at all.  I am a fan of M. (Michelle) Leighton and have read several of her other books, mostly her YA, so this one was new for me.

Olivia is a senior in college aspiring to become an accountant to eventually work on her father’s farm.  She has always been attracted to the bad boys, which ultimately leads to a broken heart.  When she meets Cash, she is immediately attracted but tries to withhold, knowing he is the typical heartbreak she is used to.  Enter Nash, Cash’s twin.  Nash is successful, working at a law firm and dating Olivia’s cousin.  Nash is what Olivia needs, but Cash is what Olivia wants.

I enjoyed the writing style and the scenes were steamy!  There is a secret Cash is withholding, knowing that he may lose Olivia if he tells her.  Cash has lived up to the expectations others put on him, not graduating high school, running a bar/club.  Nash seems like the safer choice for Olivia.

Again, like I said, part of the twist was pretty easy to figure out fairly early on.  You understand where Olivia is coming from with her reservations and with what she thinks is the right move.  But will she follow what she wants or what she needs is the question.

I felt pulled in to this story and read it quickly, and was overjoyed to find the story continues in Up to Me!!!  Which I just downloaded and will start reading tonight 🙂  I can’t wait to see where the author goes on this story.

I would recommend this read and give it a 4.5 out of 5!  It is for mature audiences!  Now, I’m off to read Up to Me!
