Review: Haunted (Book 2, The Caged Series) by Amber Lynn Natusch

(The sequel to Caged)

“I cowered away from him, unable to formulate a coherent sentence. Questions ran through my mind though none made it past my lips. I wondered how this could be happening, what he wanted, and what major injustice I’d brought against the universe to bring a fate such as this upon me.

Perhaps being born was reason enough.”

After his near death experience only months earlier, Cooper’s behavior is rapidly deteriorating.
So what does Ruby do? She adds a new roommate into the mix. When her friend Ronnie is abruptly called away for a family emergency, Ruby takes in Peyta, Ronnie’s highly intelligent and overly observant teenage daughter. With an increasingly unstable Cooper in the house, Ruby fears for Peyta’s safety.
But when Peyta’s behaviors become as perplexing as Cooper’s, Ruby finds herself juggling a series of lies to ensure their safety as well as her own…
Until the lies, and the bodies, start dropping.

CONTENT ADVISORY: language, moderately graphic violence

Again, love this series!  So, in this second book, Cooper and Ruby are now roommates.  Ronnie unexpectedly goes out of town, so Ruby offers for Ronnie’s daughter Peyta to stay at her place.  Which may not be a good idea, since it seems Coop has gone off the deep end.

In this book, you learn more about Sophie and Sean, and their complicated relationship.  You meet a few new characters, including Matty and a few of the PC brothers.

Deaths start occurring in the brotherhood, and Ruby is at the top of the list.  Sean has spoken for her against the Elders, basically tying his life to hers.  But Sophie is none too happy about that.  Then, whatever is bothering Coop seems to pick up on Peyta and realize she is special herself.  So, they go after her.

Again, great character development for everyone.  Ruby’s personality is great, and I also love Scarlett’s personality too.  Lots of action and suspense, this is a book you can read in one sitting.  I am so excited to re-read Framed, Book 3!  Yes, I will start it tonight, and hopefully finish tomorrow, even though I work about 9 hrs!!!

I give Haunted 5 out of 5!  The Caged Series is a must read!!!
